The label title is Ivantino, simply put; it is the combination of my second and last name and is the presentation of my journey as a fashion designer, rather than the name of a commercial business. Within Ivantino I have designed and created collections from my studies as well as commissioned designs and garments for those who identify with the label. For New Zealand fashion week I have been given the opportunity to showcase my recent bridal collection that I graduated at Otago Polytechnic with. This collection is called “Say Yes to Heaven” and it began with the exploration of heaven as more than an aesthetic, but instead; a state of mind. My research into this concept found me comparing the differences between a temporary heaven and a permanent heaven, which saw parallels with the euphoria a bride may feel on her wedding day versus the bliss that comes from being married or otherwise. As such, my findings have manifested into a bridal wear collection that emphasizes on dress-making Haute Couture techniques. I have focused on creating and manipulating textiles to create an opulence that resembles a sense of heaven for not just the viewer but more so for the wearer. Some key features of this collection would be the Azrael Gown which is embellished with 15,000 silver lined crystal beads, and the Michael Gown which carries over 300 meters of gathered tulle.
