The collection ‘Shan Shui’ explores the idea of the connection and interdependence of humans and nature. Inspired by Chinese painting, the collection captures not only the appearance of nature but also its inner qualities. This is a collection of slow fashion designs made of quality silk fabrics, with an emphasis on slow craft, high quality, and longevity of design. ‘Shan Shui’ means landscape, and is comprised of two Chinese characters: mountains and water. Elements and ideas from Chinese painting are formed as an inspiration, which is presented in my garment designs through the use of silk organza mesh fabric, colour and silhouette. The design features include hand embroidery, natural dyeing, and asymmetric design. My collection showcases my interest and passion for slow crafts, tailoring, hand embroidery, natural dying, and sustainable and ethical practices.
