As a recent graduate of Whitecliffe’s Bachelor of Sustainable Fashion Design, Benji Rowe has developed a highly conceptual and innovative practice with sustainability at the fore. Techniques such as natural dying, felting, and textile creation have culminated in a design signature that he uses to convey a range of complex narratives. With each collection, Benji explores broader concepts of the human experience and posits how this can be informed by, or expressed through fashion design. His most recent collection, shown in the graduation show at NZFW, is a culmination of his explorations into decay and destruction within the Anthropocene. In 2023, Benji Rowe will pursue a Masters in Fashion at Kingston University in London, where he hopes to hone his craft and work towards developing his eponymous label: Rowe.
