Amelia Phillips

‘Happily Ever After’ is a collection that reflects my personal exploration into the institution of marriage and the ideas surrounding weddings. I focused on longevity and versatility. I wanted to challenge the idea of the ‘one day dress’, by making a collection that is suitable to be worn to multiple occasions, mixed and matched, and even interpreted into the everyday wardrobe. A unique blend of textural boldness and romantic femininity, ruffles, ties and intricate details are apparent across all my work. These garments exhibit high quality construction and fabrication focusing on the use of natural fibres, regenerated fibres or dead-stock. I have ensured the pieces in this collection can be worn many times and adapted, or altered throughout their lifecycle. My graduate collection caters for the move towards individualism and slow fashion that is multipurpose and centres around the needs of a modern consumer.

Amelia is a graduate of Otago Polytechnic Te Pūkenga and will feature in the Graduate Show.
