Growing up in Southern Germany, Anna was fortunate to have parents who appreciated the arts and allowed her to explore and develop her own creativity. Graduating from the German Master School of Fashion, she advanced her skills managing the Costume Department of the National Theatre of Thuringen and as Pattern Maker for Peter Keppler Couture, along with working for a number of other European designers. All of this developed and extended her experience and skills as an Haute Couture Designer. While holidaying in New Zealand, Anna fell in love with the country and decided to make this her new home. She then worked as a freelance pattern maker for Karen Walker, Liz Mitchell, and Trelise Cooper before establishing a bridal atelier in 2002 and launching her first Anna Schimmel collection. Many collections later the ‘Anna Schimmel’ brand is known for its outstanding gowns, each one carefully handcrafted using exquisite fabrics.
