New Zealand Fashion Week (NZFW) was proud to partner with HITO – the Hair and Beauty Industry Training Organisation – to create the HITO Hot New Talent competition. This competition gave three hair stylists, three makeup artists, three fashion stylists, three female models and three male models, the chance to travel to Auckland and work alongside key fashion industry leaders during New Zealand Fashion Week, AND the opportunity to star in a NZ Fashion Week show, as well as a NZFW photoshoot!!
HITO, as New Zealand’s hair and beauty therapy industry training organisation, develops and implements New Zealand’s industry qualifications for the hair and beauty sector, it manages the apprenticeship programmes for hairdressing, barbering and beauty therapy in New Zealand.
The partnership with NZFW will help HITO find the next generation of talented young creative minds looking to make their way in these industries. "We’re excited to be creating those opportunities again and this time, with the support of HITO who are a fantastic organisation, we can ensure the winners are well supported into their chosen careers.” – Dame Pieter Stewart
The final winners, were handpicked by a NZFW collected team of industry experts and the HITO Hot New Talent mentors such as the likes of Richard Kavanagh, Kirsten Stewart, Sally-Ann Mullin and Lulu Wilcox the week prior to NZFW, and were announced at the NZFW Opening Ceremony on Monday 24th August by Dame Pieter Stewart.
